Kick back to school to the curb
The first day of school is here for the majority of Indiana and if you are a parent, you are likely relieved to know that your children will be clocking in more study time and less Fortnite drops this fall. School might mean more freedom for parents during the day but, it also means that your curb is going to receive a lot more traffic from you, your children, and the big yellow bus. So, what should you look out for as you and your children stand patiently at the bus stop?
How to Be Superb at the Curb
The Estes Designs team thinks you should look out for:
- Loose Newspapers – No matter how hard you try, newspapers about your local municipal always seem to find a way onto your drive way or in a spot they shouldn’t be. Fighting them only results in you going postal, so the most you can do is just pick them up. Make sure you don’t let the papers pile up. The last thing you want is for your child to slip on morning crossword while running to the bus for the first day of second grade – just like I did.
- Floral Arrangements – Nothing says it’s time for back to school more than the classic first day of school photo. Parents across the country will be making their children begrudgingly take a photo before the bus rolls up. If it’s a good one, they will even be holding their lunch box. A helpful piece of advice, freshly planted flowers around your mailbox post always make a great setting for these photos.
- Trash Cans – While trash cans provide no real threat to you or your child at the bus stop, they are just plain smelly. No one wants to stand next to a pile of compact waste on wheels. Not to mention, we’re approaching Fall which means the longer your cans sit, the better chance they have of going airborne into the street thanks to windy weather. This is why we suggest dragging them in as soon as possible. If you are lucky, your children might do it for you after being dropped off from school.
- Amazon Packages – We get it. We are addicted too! Clicking the “order” button on Amazon is one of the best feelings in the world. That said, now it’s your job to keep an eye out for your packages. The porch is a common place for your Amazon order to be delivered. Only problem is, everyone else knows that. So if you receive confirmation that your child’s new backpack is at the door only to find that a shady character beat you to the porch, then the last thing to look for on your curb might interest you!
