“Improvement” has become one of the most used buzzwords in the business world. With almost every company striving for improvement, the definition of improvement has become more and more ambiguous. After all, how do you define and track improvement? Improvement is not just another buzzword to us; at our parent company Estes Design and Manufacturing, it is one of the four pillars of the company philosophy, and it is apparent through measurable goals that we set and monitor. In this post, we will discuss what continuous improvement means to Estes Designs Mailbox & Streetscapes, and how we achieve our improvement goals through: 1) the utilization of a business management software, Jobber, which makes us more efficient; and 2) the importance of ongoing product development.
What Improvement Means to Us
The philosophy of our parent company, Estes Designs and Manufacturing, is to profitably produce fabricated metal products with a level of service and quality preferred by the customer. To realize this philosophy, we have established measurement standards to track progress on improvements in our customer value and satisfaction, quality, speed to market, flexibility and reduced cost. Specifically at Estes Designs Mailbox and Streetscapes, we see improvement through increased efficiency and new product developments. Continuous improvement would not be achievable without also realizing the other pillars in our company philosophy: innovative thinking, people of high character, state-of-the-art technology.
Utilizing Business Management Software to Ensure Continuous Improvement
To deliver the best products and service to our customers, we must be working collaboratively and effectively internally first. One of the ways that we ensure we are working together efficiently is through a business management software called Jobber. This software provides us with the visibility we need to be more efficient in terms of pricing, quoting, scheduling, and customer management. It also empowers our customers, which you can read more about in another recent blog post, Are you an Estes Designs Customer? Our New CSR Tool, Jobber, Might Benefit You!
How Product Development Affects Improvement
If we were to stop developing new products, our business would struggle to survive in the current marketplace. In addition, we would be going against our company philosophy of continuous improvement. We constantly focus on new product development, so we are always brainstorming product ideas and designs to ensure we are delivering better solutions for our customers. We are proud to say that we strive at continuous improvement every day at Estes Designs Mailbox and Streetscapes; we are always involved in product development, whether it be for the production of new trimmer guards, mailboxes, or mailbox posts. You can read about all of our new innovative products in our recent blog post, Innovation: The Estes Way. Our Estes promise is to not stop until we exceeds our continuous improvement goals.
