Every year, Estes Design and Manufacturing, the parent company of Estes Designs Mailbox and Streetscapes, throws a Christmas party to celebrate the hard work of its employees, and the true spirit of Christmas. The luncheon is immersed in tradition, and focuses on the spiritual, not the commercial.
“We always read Scripture,” says Tim Hughes, Customer Service Manager of the mailbox division. “My favorite part about the Christmas luncheon is the emphasis on faith. The principles that Estes stands for are surrounded by the Bible, and that’s how we run our business. It reinforces what I try to live in my life, because I can live that out here at work.”
Estes leadership also makes every effort to incorporate Indianapolis businesses into the event. The employees look forward to G.T. South’s slow-cooked barbeque, another generations-old, family owned and operated business in Indianapolis. Employees pitch in their best recipes for true family-style eating that all will enjoy. And along with that, Tim Estes, President of Estes Design and Manufacturing, celebrates the company’s successes and casts the vision for the upcoming year.
Ken King is the Office Manager for the mailbox division and enjoys the luncheon because of the comradery of the employees. “We all have a kinship, a lot of things in common. Of course the food is good, and it’s fun to hang out with the guys, but it’s not about presents and Santa Claus. It’s about Christ,” King says. “That’s hard to come by in a business environment these days. It’s refreshing to focus on that instead of the commercial side of Christmas.”
As you gather with your family, we hope you will take a moment to remember the real reason for Christmas, and celebrate the unforgettable moments of 2016. Merry Christmas, from Estes Designs Mailbox and Streetscapes!
