Down syndrome has excluded Sky Simpson from numerous job opportunities and prevented him from working with others, but this did not discourage he and his father, Steven Simpson from starting their own company, Sky Boxes. The company began two years ago after Sky and Steven noticed the high rates homeowners were being charged for mailbox installations. Sky boxes mission is to fix this problem, and now it repairs and installs mailboxes.
When Sky Boxes was started, financial gain was not the sole target for the business, nor the main motivator for beginning the company. Rather, Sky Boxes gives Sky the opportunity to work with others, while affording him the value of hard work that come from owning a business. Surprisingly, the business has already sold and installed several mailboxes and posts, and Sky hopes has high hopes that the company will continue to grow in the next year.
Estes supplies the mailboxes while Sky supplies exceptional service
While Estes Designs is focused on producing and installing high quality mailboxes, it is also invested in improving its community. Brad Schaffer, lead manager at Estes Designs, has a close relationship with the Simpson family, and knew he wanted to help ensure the success of Sky Boxes. The two companies have formed a close relationship in which Sky Boxes provides clients and Estes Designs provides the materials. Estes Designs supplies Sky Boxes with mailbox posts, mailboxes, and accessories at a wholesale price so that Sky can continue what he loves to do. This alleviates the stress of finding a product supplier, and allows Sky Boxes to realize a profit.
